Estonian InstituteThe Estonian Institute has been in business since 1989. The Institute is a non-profit organisation whose task is to spread information about Estonian society, culture and education, introduce Estonian culture in other countries and further cultural exchange between Estonia and other countries and support the teaching of the Estonian language at institutions of higher education abroad. The Estonian Institute is supported by the Ministry of Culture; for a number of projects it seeks special funding elsewhere. Besides the Ministry of Culture, the Institute co-operates closely with other governmental and non-governmental structures such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, various foundations and societies. For further information please contact: Estonian Institute The Estonian Institute publications:The Estonian Institute publishes a series of fact sheets Estonia in Facts which introduce different aspects of Estonian society, such as Estonian history, culture, economy, political system, population/ethnic minorities etc. The fact sheets are mostly in English, but some have been translated into Finnish, German, Hungarian and French. The Estonian Institute also publishes several booklets, folders and posters for designed for foreign readers which introduce Estonian history, culture and nature. Estonian Literary Magazine and Estonian Art appear twice a year. They introduce and promote Estonian literature and art in the world. Estonian Art presents an overview of the events in Estonian art life over half a year. Literary Magazine offers information also about the history of Estonian literature and introduces new books. The informative materials are primarily spread via Estonian embassies abroad; they can also be received directly from the Estonian Institute. Most of the materials are avilable on the Internet, they can also be obtained by mail. Please see the order form. Foreign branches of the Estonian Institute:In order to better fulfill its tasks and promote Estonian culture in the world, the Institute has set up three branches abroad: the Estonian Institute in Finland located in Helsinki, the Estonian Institute in Hungary located in Budapest and the Estonian Institute in Sweden located in Stockholm. These three branches of the Institute spread information about Estonia, organise cultural events like exhibitions, concerts etc., arrange lectures and seminars, help find contacts with possible partners, provide information about the possibilities of studying in Estonia and support the teaching of the Estonian language. |
